BUCCANEER C.E.R.T.A proud part of USA Freedom Corps BUCCANEER CERT members are volunteers who have been trained by the North Fort Myers Fire District in skills that can help save and sustain lives following disasters that might occur in our community. CERT training includes the following skills:

| Mission The mission of CERT is: To strive to maintain a level of awareness, to educate the public on preparedness for any possible threat to themselves, their families and their communities; to collect and disseminate critical information; and to coordinate and support responses to and recovery from emergencies. |

Recognition Buccaneer CERT has received the President's USA Freedom Corps Volunteer Service Award and recognition from Lee County Emergency Management for their service and commitment to making a difference through their volunteer service. North Fort Myers Fire District also presented a plaque to the team in recognition and appreciation for their services when they opened and managed shelters at local schools during Hurricanes Charley and Hurricane Wilma.
